Step I: Credits for Professional Qualification

Over the past years, ICT education and training in Germany has gone through major innovations and reforms. Initial VET has seen a Vocational Training Reform Act and the introduction of new IT occupations. This process included the implementation of an output-oriented, competence-based training concept. Additionally, the whole field of continuing VET in IT was given structure with the Advanced IT Training System pursuing a competence-based approach as well. For the domain of higher education, the majority of ICT degree programmes has been adopted to meet the criteria imposed by the Bologna Process.

Now, in a joint effort, priority is given to the recognition of professional qualification for (further) academic training filling in a crucial gap for the establishment of a viable lifelong learning culture.
