ICT Degree Programmes

Though the new two-cycle degree programmes are particularly popular in the field of ICT, old and new degree systems exist simultaneously.

There is a wide range of programmes: “Computer Science”, “Information / Communication Technology”, “Internet Science”, “Information / Communication Engineering”, “Media Computer Science” etc. Many engineering and (pure) science degree programmes put strong emphasis on advanced user and programming skills, too.

In Germany, higher education institutes traditionally differentiated between the field of “Computer Science” or the field of “Electrical Engineering”, from which the field of “ICT” has emerged. Degree programmes often specialize in one of these fields, though many programmes thrive exactly on interdisciplinary mixes, as ICT is a symbiosis of computer science and electrical engineering and both fields have increasing overlap.
