Overview
|
Wilhelm von Humboldt, who lived from 1767 to 1835, is known and honoured for his reforms of higher education world-wide. In Germany, his principle of the "indivisibility of research and teaching" has ultimately shaped the higher education arena until today: Academic institutions are not to solely provide education and training but to enable the pursuance of independent research – pure and applied. Academic institutions, their organization of degree programmes and admission requirements differ according to level and focus of research and training. |
