Reference Processes: Synergies between Work and Training

Over the past years, work assignments have moved into openly defined, process-oriented areas of tasks with increased amounts of individual responsibility for the entire process. Here, working is learning. Competencies for self-assessment, -direction and -control are crucial prerequisites.

AITTS’ innovative idea is to rest job description and curricula on the same basis: process-oriented and competence-based descriptions of performance expectations. This facilitates the integration of working and learning and puts modern training concepts at the heart of daily work.

The key here are reference processes: event-process-chain descriptions of typical work activities that are generic enough to address the variety of conditions in small and large companies and the manifold ways of competitive service delivery, but specific enough to allow for delineation between profiles and the definition of qualification and performance expectations. Reference processes are based on best practice and have been collaboratively developed with representatives from the IT industry, but do not claim to show how business is to be done in the industry!
