AITTS Training Concept and the Demographic Factor

Correlations between age and preferences for formal, institution-based education vs. informal, workplace-oriented training are empirically proven and show clearly that people of higher age favour work-based or work-related trainings building on their specific experiences and existing education.

Between now and 2030, Europe will lose 22 million people of working age due to low birth rates and anticipated waves of retirement. The group of workers aged 55-64 will increase by 25 Million! In a demographically changing society where employees are of increasing age, the AITTS training concept is of particular value to support these people in their individual learning efforts as it specifically addresses their needs and preferences. According to a study from the European Commission (CVTS2, 2000), only 14% of learning among the workforce in Europe is self-directed. Opposed to this, AITTS’ training concept leverages self-directed learning and naturally incorporates older workers into continuing learning efforts.
