General Context

Whereas the EQF is providing general reference points and regards regulated education and training, the EMF is set out to be the ICT sector specific implementation of structure and reference points described by the EQF. In addition, results of professional qualification outside regulated national qualification systems are to be included. Consequentially, a second field of reference is the “Directive for the recognition of professional qualification” approved by the European Parliament and amended 2005. It is envisaged that an EMF adopts similar descriptors based on outcomes and using the same typology of knowledge, skills, and wider competences.
